In general, the configuration of these solar heating systems makes use of solar collectors and storage tanks which are connected by two pipes. The solar collectors of these water heating systems are responsible for the conversion of the energy from the sun to allow it to heat the liquid inside the channels of the solar collector.  

The liquid is responsible for transporting the heat through the pipe and into the storage tank where it flows to the water inside the heat exchanger.
